Dear Acera Families,
Welcome to our new families and welcome back to our returning families!
The engaged and hope-filled group conversation during July’s Acera Parent Wine & Cheese night set a tone of optimism and future focus for this school year. With a new chemistry/biology teacher, a dramatically updated playground, a renewed Maker Space, two new – and very experienced – core classroom teachers, an aligned and collaborative school management team, a balanced budget, and strong financials, all signs point to a great year ahead!
On August 25th, I shared via email a comprehensive update of the playground initiative, One Lowell Ave, the upcoming Strategic Planning process, STEM learning enhancements, and new norms around communications. If you missed this 2023-24 Update Letter or would like to receive it again, please contact us.
This week, faculty and staff came together for Collaboration Week. These weeks – held every year in June and August – are intensive workshops during which we reflect, imagine new possibilities, and plan together. It is so gratifying to see the joy, dedication, and enthusiasm that faculty and staff bring to the Acera community every day.
Acera is a strong community. I am grateful for each of you who give in so many ways; volunteering with APP, being a room parent or host for new families, helping coordinate carpools, coming into classrooms to share your expertise in ways that link to learning, spending a Saturday helping clean the playground, and showing up for community gatherings and student share-out events.
I look forward to connecting with you all in Continuous Improvement workshops, Strategic Planning sessions, and numerous culminating events and community gatherings this year!
Welcome Back!
All the best,
Courtney Dickinson
