We have made a lot of progress on Acera’s Adventure Playground since June! Funds raised from the annual fund campaign last year made it possible for us to move forward with plans to overhaul the surfaces in the playground area over the summer.
The carport that was used as an outdoor classroom during covid has been removed to make more space for play. Most of the asphalt has been removed; there is now crushed stone and wood chips in part of the area and new sod in the rest. Our Facilities Manager Kevin Duvall has also been busy stabilizing structures, building platforms and installing nets that will be ready for recess the first week of school!
Acera Alumnus Sam Campbell cleared out a part of the new “Magic Forest” (see below) that will be covered with wood chips for Jen & Lisa’s class to use. Sam is now a rising junior at Lawrence Academy. Thank you, Sam!
We will share more pictures as the work progresses! In the coming weeks, we will also share more information about the Zip Line, and offer insight on Acera’s philosophy on Team Free Play and our Adventure Playground.
Please feel free to reach out to Trent Ramsey if you have any questions.

The playground has dedicated zones for games and sports, and a new field of grass.
