Featured speakers:
- Lina Fu, Senior Data Scientist, Meta GenAI Team: Lina has over 10 years of industry experience in Data Science, with six years at Meta. She recently joined the GenAI team, after spending a few years as manager and tech lead at the Augmented Reality team. Previously, she worked at Xerox Research on healthcare predictive modeling, transportation optimization, and printer control. She graduated from the Ohio State University with a Ph.D. in control systems. She has authored four journal papers and 13 conference papers, and holds 10 U.S. patents.
- Amy Kilpatrick BA, CVT, RLATg, CPIA, Head of Animal Welfare Compliance, Novartis Biomedical Research: Amy is the Head of Animal Welfare Compliance at Novartis Biomedical Research in Cambridge. She is a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT,) a Registered Laboratory Animal Technologist (RLATg), and Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA.) Her role requires her to ensure the research program meets and exceeds the expectations set forth in federal and local laws protecting animals used in research. Amy is passionate about accurate representation of, and transparency in, the animal research field, instilling strong animal welfare values in the young, and educating all people about animals. In Amy’s spare time she pet sits an ever growing circle of furry friends and hangs with her own family (a husband, 2 sons, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 rats and a leopard gecko.)
- Leah Leier, Radar Engineer, General Radar: Leah was in love with science from the very beginning. She graduated from MIT with a major in Physics (concentrating in astrophysics) and a minor in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science. She started graduate study in Astronomy at Boston University, but left after one year due to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and realizing how much time professors have to spend begging for money. After taking some time off to heal her wrists, she started working at Raytheon on missile defense radars. Last year, she changed employers to join General Radar, a startup finding cheaper and more efficient ways to create advanced radars.
