Theater Production – Mondays & Wednesdays & Thursdays – Trimester 1 – 22/23 – 11+yo

$1,440.00

Our “Theater Production” after school class is looking for both actors and tech crew (lighting, set design, and costumes), ages 11+, to participate. Students will be expected to commit to the rehearsal and show calendar, the dates of which are shown on this spreadsheet. All rehearsal days run from 3:30-5:30, except Tech rehearsals, which run til 6:00 or 6:30 – these are specified in the calendar as well. Show times are 7pm Thursday November 17, 7pm Friday November 18, and a possible performance at 7pm on Saturday November 19. We will also have a 3:45pm show on Monday November 21.
Please note these details for the two productions/plays we will run this year:
Production #1 (Fall, Trimester 1) (this page)
Trimester 1, first workshop Sep 7, last day Nov 21: meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (plus TWO Tuesdays near the very end of the trimester)
Production #2 (Winter & Spring, Tri 2-3) (click here to sign up)
Trimester 2, first workshop Nov 30, last day March 9: meets every Wednesday & Thursday only – NO Mondays during Trimester 2!
Trimester 3, first rehearsal March 15, last day June 8: meets every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (plus TWO Tuesdays near the very end of the trimester)
A play will be chosen based on the number of students who sign up. Novice actors are encouraged to give it a try! Actors will memorize their lines, learn how to move around the stage according to the director & stage manager’s directions, and apply a range of acting skills to effectively embody and convey their role.
Tech crew includes lighting, costume, and set design. Lighting includes the design and implementation of a sequence of lighting cues using a light board. Costume design involves curating, creating, and altering pieces to appropriately fit the actors and their roles, as well as some makeup design. Set design includes designing & painting our collection of 4’x8′ “flats” (giant canvases), as well as our constructed stage elements such as stairs & doors, to customize the set pieces for this production. As we do not have a woodworking teacher accompanying this class, students will not be building new pieces that require the use of the woodshop. Students interested in woodworking are strongly encouraged to enroll in one of our upper school woodworking classes on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday!
If you haven’t looked at the rehearsal & show calendar yet, please check it out here! Reach out to Enrichment@aceraschool.org with any questions.
