A group of students will work together as a team to build one of these amazingly sea worthy row boats. The “Periwinkle Jr” design is a 10’ flat bottom skiff that requires traditional boat building techniques, so students will walk away from this project with a wealth of wood working, design, and engineering skills, along with the pride and satisfaction of having built “a real boat.” The class will be led by Bob McCarty from Community Boat Building who has built dozens of these boats with kids in Boston. Some familiarity with basic hand tools is preferred, but no experience is necessary.

Instructor: Bob McCarty, Acera Boatbuilding Enrichment Teacher
