Students will design and build their own custom cruiser skateboard in this exciting camp. They will select the type and specify the width of hardwood strips, decide on the pattern and laminate them together. They will plane the board flat, like a cutting board, and then cut it to a shape of their choosing, then smooth and round over the edges. Students will finish off the skateboard by drilling truck holes, staining several coats and finally, attaching the trucks. We hope to complete skateboards in time to test them out on the last day. Students may also choose a small second project to independently work on during wait times when their skateboard glue or stain is drying. Students will be taught safe and effective use of relevant hand tools and power tools.
